Role Description

As a Societies Executive Committee Member, you will support all UWS Students’ Union Societies by:

  • Ensuring the Students’ Union acts on ideas and issues raised at Societies Council meetings
  • Planning and coordinating joint society events and activities
  • Approving new society affiliations and society funding decisions

 

Requirements for the role include:

  • Attending 4 Societies Council Meetings throughout the academic year
  • Attending 4 Societies Executive Committee Meetings throughout the academic year
  • Attending any additional meetings decided by the Committee
  • Regular communication with societies to enable their engagement in events and activities
  • Specific roles for each member may be agreed upon by the Committee

 

You will be invited to attend an online induction where we will make sure you are confident and happy with what you will be doing in your role.

 Meetings may be in person or online, depending on the requirements of committee members

Skills/Experience Required

There are no specific skills or experienced required but you should be:

 

  • Friendly and approachable
  • Understanding of students’ needs and challenges
  • Enthusiastic about supporting student societies and helping them to work together
  • Enthusiastic when speaking to students about our events and activities
  • Eager to work as part of a team

 

Requirements for starting the role

  • You must be a member of a Students' Union Society
  • Nominations are approved by our Societies Council

 

Induction:

  • To prepare you for your role you will be invited to attend a Committee Induction session
