Would you like to work at the NUS Scotland Students' Union of the Year 2022/23? We have been supporting and representing students since 1971. Of course things have changed a lot over the years as the University of the West of Scotland has expanded and grown. We work across five campuses, including Paisley (where our head office is located), Ayr, Lanarkshire, Dumfries and London.

Employment Opportunities

The Union has two exciting opportunities for UWS students to join our staff team. The posts are part-time for ten hours per week and fixed term until May 2024. You can find out more about the roles below.

Social Media Assistant

This new role would suit a student with a flair for communicating over social media. We are looking for a passionate and creative person to join our staff team and help our societies communicate with our wider members and promote volunteering opportunities to students. Working under the direction of the Digital Communications Coordinator you will create engaging social media content related to the work of our 40+ student groups and local organisations.  You will build personal relationships with our society and student group leaders and help and train them to plan and organise their social media presence and ensure that their many success stories are communicated to the wider student community.

This post can be based at Ayr, Lanarkshire, or Paisley, and will be expected to travel between the campuses as required.

Societies & Volunteering Support Assistant

This new role would suit a student who likes to help organise events and activities. We are looking for a person who is passionate about organisation and planning that can help our societies make their events and meetings the best they can be and support local organisations to promote volunteering opportunities across our campuses. Working under the direction of our Student Opportunities Coordinator, you will support our 40+ societies to achieve their event goals. You will help them plan, organise, and budget to ensure that their events are engaging to their members. These events can be anything from simple meetings to helping organise graduation balls.

This post can be based at Ayr, Lanarkshire, or Paisley, and will be expected to travel between the campuses as required.

What to Expect at the Interview

The interview for the role will take approximately 30-45 mins and will be conducted at our Paisley campus Union. There will be two parts of the interview, a skills-based task or presentation which will take 15 minutes, and a traditional question-based interview where we will explore how well you meet the person specifications of the role. These questions will be sent to you if we invite you to interview, along with the information about the interview task or presentation.
