With the aim of providing students with an opportunity to experience history, heritage and culture firsthand, the Student Association Bangladesh UWS London Campus (SABUWSL) organised a visit to the historic Tower of London. Led by President Abdur Rahim and coordinated with other members of the association, the visit offered participants an enjoyable and memorable experience of exploring one of London’s most historic landmarks.
Participants gathered at 10:00 AM in front of the Shahid Minar at Altab Ali Park, where they received an initial introduction and a short briefing from Sahed Rahman, President of the UK Bangla Reporters Unity. Following the briefing, the group set off together for the Tower of London.
Upon arrival, participants explored the Tower’s rich history, historic architecture and its connection with the heritage of the British monarchy. One of the main highlights was the famous Crown Jewels, including the historic Koh-i-Noor diamond and other royal crowns and precious gems.
Learning about the history and heritage surrounding the Koh-i-Noor, as well as seeing the royal collection, generated particular interest among the participants.
The traditional presence and disciplined movements of the British Guards on duty around the historic site also attracted considerable attention. Participants enjoyed watching their ceremonial activities and captured memorable moments through photographs.
The combination of historic architecture, royal treasures and the traditional presence of the guards made the visit an engaging and memorable experience.
The event was also attended by Assistant Professor Mohammad Abdul Hannan from the Department of International Relations at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Development Studies at SOAS, University of London, under the Commonwealth Scholarship.
