| Dear {firstname}, |
| Welcome to UWS and Your Students’ Union! |
| Whether you are joining UWS for the first time or returning for another year, we are here to help you make the most of student life. |
| As a UWS student, you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union. That means you can join societies, attend events, get independent advice and have a say in the decisions that affect you. |

| Find Your Community |
| Joining a society or coming along to an event is a great way to meet people, try something new and feel part of the UWS community. |
| We have student societies covering a wide range of interests, identities, cultures and activities. You can join an existing society or get support to start one of your own. |

| Make your Voice Heard |
| Student representation has always been an important part of how your Union works for you. |
| This year, we are introducing new ways for students to share their views, raise issues and help shape the work of the Students’ Union and University. |
| There are lots of ways to take part: |
| • |
Become a Class Rep and represent students on your course |
| • |
Join discussions through your Faculty Forum or Campus Forum |
| • |
Get involved in a Student Network |
| • |
Take part in our new Annual Student Meeting, where students will debate ideas and decide the Union’s priorities |
| You can get involved in the way that works for you. You do not need previous experience, and we will provide training and support for representative roles. |
| |
| Could You Represent Students? |
| This autumn, students will elect three new Faculty Vice Presidents and a range of other officers representing different student communities and interests. |
| Those elected will join the Union’s Executive Committee and help turn students’ ideas and priorities into action. |
| These roles are carried out alongside your studies and offer an opportunity to build skills, meet new people and make a real difference to students. |
| Nominations open on 7 September, and we will send you more information soon about the roles available and how to stand. |
| |
| Meet your Elected Student Presidents |
| Your President and Vice President Education work full-time to represent UWS students. |
| They raise student concerns with the University, lead campaigns and work with students to bring about change. |

| Our Advice Service provides free, confidential and independent support to UWS students. Our advisers can help with academic appeals, complaints, disciplinary matters, academic misconduct allegations and other difficulties affecting your studies. |

| We hope to see you around campus and getting involved with the Students’ Union over the next year! ♥️ |
